Saumi is a lively, positive and mature helper who takes pride in her job as helper and fully understand the objective in life. She shared that as a helper should not choose the works and should need to adjust herself to suit the family needs as every family has different expectations and needs. When asked where and why she did that, she shared that usually she and a small group of friends (3-4 person) will play the traditional music at open space at Kallang and Paya Lebar area. The main purpose is to attract other helpers to join them for this healthy hobby instead of spending money unnecessary. She also teaches al-Quran to remind them of their religion and their family back in their home country. Sometimes her group will be invited for performance.

Saumi is very grateful that the employer trust her to do the right things for their children. She recalled that in the 1st family she joined, she cannot speak English at all and ma’am can only speak a little Bahasa. She can only communicate with the family and children using body and sign language. The family has been very patient with her and teach her English. She also shared that the children and her shared very close bond and they will even teach her how to read and speak in proper English.

Saumi is willing to learn how to take care of new born if the employer is willing to teach.
